scene, cory & lea, cory’s house.
“lea…” ugh, he hated this feeling more than anything. if there was one person who seemed to know what strings to tug at more than anyone with him, it was lea michele. maybe that was because she knew almost everything that was worth knowing about him. that was why, when they had broken up, he was a little shocked that she had taken it so hard. sure, he had spent a long time fighting for her, but it was easy to be in a relationship when you weren’t actually in a relationship. once there was no theo and lea only had him to focus her attentions on, things were different. suddenly, cory found himself with a lot less time, he had to be a lot more careful about what he said so he didn’t upset her, and he had to worry about not loving her the way that he knew she deserved. and then she had started pushing about making everything more serious and he got overwhelmed and he knew that while he needed lea, he wasn’t ready to be out in the open, do all of the relationship interviews that the knew would come. he had no idea about whether he would eventually marry her or not, what their kids’ first names would be, and he knew that lea was going to watch all of that and get upset. so, he had made the decision to end things, and ever since then, he had been pretending like he was okay with it, when he wasn’t. that was how the girls had started. first katie, then leighton. never selena because she was way too young, then it had been lea again, then katie, then katie again, then leighton, then katie, then lea, and the vicious cycle was never ending.
she was wrong about him not going to stop her. “lea, please…” he sighed, opening the front door and throwing his hands up as flashbulbs went off. his life had become a big public spectacle as of late and he didn’t know why the fuck the paparazzi insisted on camping outside his doorstep. “please, just come back inside, okay?” he begged. he really didn’t want to see her crying, and he knew that they had to have a discussion, because things simply could not continue the way they were currently going. after all, it wasn’t like they could just be normal ex’s and never see each other again, he still had to work with her for another year and he would rather not spend that year with her running away from him every time someone yelled ‘cut!’.
